Foundation Years

Welcome to the Casa Environment

Our Casa program supports children aged 2.5 to 6 years through a carefully prepared Montessori environment where learning is self-directed and engaging. Within this mixed-age classroom, children explore Practical Life skills, Sensorial activities, language, and mathematics, all while building confidence, independence, and a love for learning. Our teachers act as guides, facilitating each child’s journey toward self-discovery and helping them develop critical thinking skills that lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

Why Casa?

A Montessori Approach to Learning

The Casa program differs significantly from traditional daycare by offering a structured, child-centered environment where exploration and independence are encouraged. While daycares may focus on group activities led by the teacher, our Casa program emphasizes each child’s unique path, allowing them to choose activities aligned with their developmental needs. Through hands-on learning with Montessori materials, children build practical skills, academic understanding, and social confidence, providing a well-rounded approach that nurtures the whole child.

Building Independence

Key Development Goals in Casa

In the Casa program, fostering independence is a core objective. Children are encouraged to care for themselves, their environment, and their community, learning valuable life skills through activities like dressing themselves, setting up for meals, and cleaning up after activities. These tasks cultivate responsibility and a sense of ownership over their surroundings.

Encouraging Curiosity and Exploration

Through a blend of academic and practical exercises, children in Casa develop curiosity and self-confidence. Activities in math, language, and cultural studies introduce them to foundational academic concepts, while Sensorial materials enhance their perception, awareness, and ability to classify the world around them.

Developing Social and Emotional Skills

In Casa, children learn to navigate social dynamics within a supportive, collaborative environment. Group activities teach empathy, respect, and teamwork, while individual work builds self-discipline and concentration. These early social skills are essential for healthy emotional development and successful interactions in later years.

Confident and Capable

Preparing for the Next Stage

Children who complete the Casa program are equipped with a robust set of skills that prepare them for more formal schooling. They emerge as confident, capable individuals ready to embrace new academic and social challenges.

Nutrition and Mealtime

Healthy Eating Habits

Nutrition is a cornerstone of our Casa program. Meals and snacks provide learning opportunities where children practice setting up, cleaning, and engaging in healthy eating habits. By participating in these routines, children develop independence and learn the importance of nutritious food choices.

Social and Educational Benefits

Mealtime also fosters social connections, as teachers and students enjoy meals together, encouraging conversations about the food and its nutritional value. These experiences reinforce social and language skills, promote healthy eating habits, and create a positive relationship with food.

Our Casa Learning Environment

A Prepared Space

The Casa classroom is carefully prepared to meet the needs of children aged 2.5 to 6. Montessori materials are displayed at the child’s level, enabling easy access and promoting independence. The environment encourages freedom within boundaries, allowing children to choose activities that support their development.

Hands-On Learning

Montessori materials play a crucial role in the Casa environment, guiding children from concrete to abstract learning. Materials for language, math, and sensorial exploration are designed to engage their senses and minds, providing tangible experiences that build foundational skills.

Community and Respect

The Casa environment also teaches respect for oneself, others, and the environment. By caring for their space and collaborating with classmates, children learn the importance of empathy, cooperation, and responsibility in their community.
